On Saturday 9th June we hosted our inaugural pop up event…La Soiree Popette a night of French food, drink, joie de vivre and enthusiastic French cabaret courtesy of Miss Pompette…

and her amazing Soiree Pompette team…

Our top secret location was revealed, just 2 days before, to be Six Eight Kafé, independent purveyors of phénoménal coffee on Temple Row…

Birmingham’s food lovers responded with vigour to our details leaked on Twitter and we were soon fully booked and terriblement excited and, if we’re honest, a little nervous!
Ze evening started with a French Pimms cocktail served in a jam jar bien sur…

After some mingling and quintessetially French croque monsieur canapes, ze guests were ushered downstairs to our makeshift restaurant for ze night to ze sounds of our chanteuse of jazz…

Ze table was set with menus and a lotto card, hinting at ze fun and games to come…

Zis is the gastronomique adventure that awaited ze guests…

In ze lull between starters and ze main course, guests were entertained by Soiree Pompette’s stupéfiant acrobats…

ooh la la!

who wowed ze crowds…

Du vin flowed freely as did ze conversation…

Guests devoured ze braised rose veal served with spring vegetables and buttered new potatoes…

Whilst we wheeled out ze vast cheese platters from Anderson and Hill, Miss Pompette led a game of lotto…

With ze evening drawing to a close and guests loosening their belts, we brought out ze final course of chocolate mousse with kirsch soaked cherries and chantilly…

We would like to thank all of our wonderful guests for coming along and making our first pop up event such a memorable and enjoyable one!
We managed to pap some of you for our hall of fame…

We’d like to thank our Twitter friends, Laurie of blog Bell and Smokey for letting us use some of her magnifique photographs of the evening, Anderson and Hill for being ze finest of cheese purveyors, tobizzy2bake for supplying our pain delicieux, Miss Pompette and her troupe for their zany French entertainment and of course Six Eight Kafé for being so hospitable and putting a fantastique roof over our heads :)
